Project Summary: H&S worked on both phases of WMU’s university owned apartment complex. The buildings and site were designed to accommodate the needs of today’s interactive college student. H&S performed the master plan, site layout, grading and utility design for both vehicular and pedestrian use.
• Made the difficult terrain an enhancement to the project by benching in the buildings which created more privacy and better views.
• Worked closely with all of WMU’s departments to make sure the project was functional and sustainable.
• Storm design utilizes treatment and underground storage.

Project Summary:
This $19 M AVB Residential Development has over 70 condominium units and a mile of private water and sewer infrastructure. Hurley & Stewart was tasked to design and oversee 6,500 linear feet of new water main, 2,500 linear feet of new sanitary sewer and their coordination for obtaining the required permits from MDEQ. H&S performed on-site inspection services to conform with the City of Kalamazoo documentation requirements. The project has been developed in 6 phases and included the design of multiple ponds to treat stormwater prior to infiltration into the well head protection zone and the big task of a 40-acre tree inventory study to determine where valuable trees could be saved throughout construction.
